Paa(2009)

Paa is a beautiful and original tale of a boy named Auro who is suffering from Progeria. It is a 2 hour and 15 minutes -well spent-movie with incredible performances from all the three main actors - Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan and Abhishek Bachchan. It is a complete 'paisa vasool'. Although this movie is primarily a Amitabh Bachchan movie, I will give the highest credit to Vidya Balan. Her acting is the best among the trio. Amitabh puts on a performance which is unlike anything you have ever seen. It is even more realistic than Brad Pitt in 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'. Pitt still had some scenes where he could be himself, but in 'PAA' Amitabh is nothing but a 12 year old mischievous kid.

Kurbaan (2009)

Two professors meet in a Delhi college and falls in love. They move to New York after marriage and soon things start to go upside down. The plot of the movie is very modern. The best thing about the movie is its acting and everybody delivers. Not a single person looked out of place. The movie lacks a little pace in the middle but compensates with a long and edge of the seat climax. Saif and Kareena has their chemistry going and acted brilliantly throughout the movie. Vivek Oberoi gave a very good performance after a long time and deserves special mention.

Forrest Gump(1994) tells the story of a boy with below average IQ, who stays honest and straight forward throughout his life and how life treats him. It is a beautiful drama with one of the best performances by Tom Hanks. The story has been told beautifully and if you cannot leave this movie once it has started. I loved every scene and dialogue of the movie and I am sure you will love it as well.

Goodbye MININOVA.

The largest torrent site on the internet Mininova has deleted almost all of its torrents to avoid payment of huge penalty. There were complaints from copyright holders and mininova was facing a lot of trouble. So in order to avoid all that they have deleted those torrents. They will only allow Content Distribution torrents from now on.

This has come as a blow to all those people who depended on mininova to get their torrents. I personally will have to look for other sites like isohunt and piratebay to get my torrents. Goodbye MININOVA.

One of the most underrated film ever Fight Club is dark, violent and extremely modern. It reflects the contemporary, consumer driven society who has no time to think or realize what they are doing or what they want. This movie has everything going for it. It has a great script, the look of the movie is very fresh and so are the acting of Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. This is undoubtedly Pitt's best performance. This is a movie not for everyone, but for those who are searching for a meaning in life.

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009)

Prem, a young man and president of Happy Club, falls for Jenny, a Christian girl. A hilarious love story, a little over the top which blends well with the movie. With great visuals and one of the best performance by Ranbir Kapoor, this movie is recommended for all those who prefer to spend an evening laughing with spouse and popcorn.

2012 (2009)

A movie dealing with the end of the world theory. The movie is visually stunning and has great music. With below par acting, poor script and direction, this movie disappoints after all the publicity and excitement it created.
I rate this movie 6 out of 10.(Mostly because of the special effects and cinematography.)

Gladiator

Russell Crowe is at his enigmatic best in this epic of a movie 'Gladiator' (2000). He showed us once more that he is one of the best actors in the business and can carry almost any movie on his shoulders. 'Gladiator' is a classic film with a simple but moving story and captivates the audience from the very first scene. If this movie does not touch your heart then, I am afraid, nothing will. The movie shows a man's love for his country and family and his fight for both of them. A movie beautifully told with great music and camera work.

The Dark Knight

'The Dark Knight' (2008) is one movie I remember in recent times which surpassed all the hypes it had created. Being  a sequel of 'Batman Begins' and the premature death of Heath Ledger, it generated a lot of media attention. But unlike other sequels it outdid its prequel by quite a big margin. Continuing with the masked crusader's fight with the underworld of Gotham City, 'The Dark Knight' gives him his ultimate challenge, the Joker.I cannot remember a villain who is more terrifying than this one. Heath Ledger was almost unrecognizable and gave a performance which was out of this world. There is not a single dull moment in the film. Another masterpiece by Christopher Nolan and by far his best. This is the best superhero movie ever made. If you do not like Batman just watch this movie for the Joker and Heath Ledger's acting. You will not be disappointed.

The first thing that will catch your attention in the three films is its cinematography and visual effects (both won oscar in their respective catagories). The trilogy is a great tribute to the wonderful creation of J.R.R. Tolkien. The story is about a ring which needs to be destroyed to save the world from falling into the hands of Evil. 4 Hobbits set out on the mission accompanied by 2 men, a dwarf, an elf and a wizard. Great acting, evergreen music and direction makes this movie one of the best of all times.

The Godfather(1972) is usually considered the 'greatest film ever made.' I would not like to shift from that belief. The movie revolves round the head of a New York mafia family in the 1940s commonly known by his associates as the 'Godfather'. A story beautifully told by Francis Ford Coppola and brilliantly acted by the whole cast. Among them, special mention must be made of Marlon Brando (Vito Corleone, the Godfather) and Al Pachino (Micheal Corleone, Vito's youngest son). The cinematography and music are unique and stunning. A movie cannot be more perfect than this.

The Godfather : Part II (1974) is just as good as the first movie. This movie is one of the best sequels I have ever seen (The Dark Knight being another). In a way it can also be called as a prequel to the first film as it shows Vito Corleone as a child and his rise to power from there on. If the first movie showed Micheal as a soft, lovable war hero, then this movie shows him as the dark, sinister successor of Vito Corleone. Another perfect movie and a great sequel.

I went to see the movie with a lot of expectation having seen the promos. The movie did not disappoint. It was hilarious throughout and exciting as well. With great one liners and funny scenes, you cannot stop laughing. The movie is quite realistic and Gerard Butler-Katherine Heigl chemistry burns the screen alive.
